Creative school markings with a local touch
Colourful DecoMark™ and PREMARK™ markings representing local city specialities makes the way to school both fun and safe for children in Icheon, South Korea.
Dark and boring surfaces are not particularly inspiring especially for children. So why not brighten up spaces with colourful and creative designs to make an area something special?
That’s exactly what the Icheon City Government in South Korea did for the pavements outside local school, Sindun Elementary.
Icheon is well known as a center of South Korean ceramic manufacturing and is a UNESCO City of Crafts and Folk Art. Other famous local products include ginseng, rice, and chrysanthemums – and it was these local specialities that gave inspiration to the final design. Produced in both DecoMark and PREMARK it was quick and simple to create a bright and stimulating space. The materials also have the added benefit of having anti-slip properties which reduces the risk of slippery surfaces. This makes the students’ journey to and from school both fun and safe.
The public officials and city councillors responsible for Icheon City and the students of Sindun Elementary School were very happy with the result and we are looking forward to working with them again in the future.
