Mini street art route makes walking fun

Taking a walk through the city of Aarhus has become a more entertaining experience for young children with this mini street art route that combines creative DecoMark™ markings and a storytelling app.

A so-called street art route made of colourful markings was applied last year in Aarhus, the second-largest city in Denmark. The project is targeted specifically at 3-8 year-olds, but encourages children and adults alike to experience the city in a new manner together.

Artist Mikkel T. Jessen created the designs for 30 different markings centered which were produced in our decorative thermoplastic material, DecoMark™. Each of the 30 designs was then applied on pavement tiles around the city.

For each of the markings, there is a story available about the bird 'Pip' who returns to Aarhus from Australia to experience the city anew. These stories are accessible through an app, which also provides an overview of the route that is about 3 kilometres long in total.

At Geveko Markings, we are happy to have been able to help the municipality of Aarhus with this project. Our DecoMark material turned out to be an ideal solution for this project as it comes in a range of different colours which was necessary to reflect the drawings suggested by the artist. Furthermore, it is easy to apply and very durable. In this way, it will last for years to come for the benefit of children and childlike souls visiting Aarhus.

Euston Station is one of London’s busiest train stations, and millions of passengers pass through every year. Finding a durable solution for their safety signage was therefore of crucial importance.
