Hospital helipad gets better with HSRoute™
After concerns over safety on a helipad at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, UK, we were approached for our expert advice on the matter and recommended HSRoute™ as the solution
In 2014, Southmead Hospital in Bristol installed a helipad with the help of donations from the County Air Ambulance Trust, so that they could significantly speed up transfer times for critically ill and injured patients, that were air lifted to hospital for emergency care. Six years later, we were approached by the senior project manager of Bouygues E&. S UK Ltd for expert advice. The issue was that the original markings had unfortunately worn away and the surface had now become slippery underfoot and a hazard for those that used it.
Upon visiting the site, we were able to determine that the concrete was suffering from latency, the surface had lost its wearing quality which in turn had caused the premature failure of the paint. We recommended that the surface should be cleaned by the process of bead blasting and then a coat of HSRoute AntiSkid Fine applied to replace the markings. Developed as an anti-skid coating, HSRoute AntiSkid Fine, is the ideal solution for reducing the risk of slips and falls for pedestrians – and therefore also turned out to be the preferred solution for this project.
